A stoplight switch is a really simple component and it's only really needed in some cases and it's really just gonna depend on what braking system you plan on using. So right off the top of my head, at least the the popular ones that I'm familiar with that could benefit from this is the Stay-IN-Play DUO supplemental braking system like we have here today on our GMC as well as the Roadmaster InvisiBrake. And what that stoplight switch is gonna do is send power to the braking system's indicator light letting you know when the brake pedal is actually getting pushed down in the vehicle when the supplemental braking system is operating. more

The Brake-Lite Relay Kit is really gonna have one purpose, and that is allow your lighting functions to operate correctly. Alright, so let's say if you didn't have the Brake-Lite Relay Kit installed, what would happen is the motor home's brake light signal would override the turn signal back on your Maverick. So, more or less, just to kind of give you an example, let's say if you we're making a left turn at a stoplight, right So you're on the brakes, and you got your left turn signal going. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System for towed vehicles on a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five main components when flat towing a vehicle that are gonna be required on your Silverado to get it down the road. And the first one is gonna be your base plate that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle creating a mounting point not only for some of your other components, but your tow bar. And your tow bar is the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, we have our safety chains and these are going to make sure in case of a less than likely but potential of a disconnect, these are gonna keep everything still attached. And you also have a breakaway switch, which is part of your braking system, which is also a component which brings the vehicle to slow and stop when you apply the brakes on the RV and the breakaway switch as if this was to pull, in case of a catastrophic disconnect, it's going to apply the brakes on the vehicle, bringing it to a slow and stop. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle. And starting on the vehicle side it's gonna be your base plate and the base plate is going to attach to the structural frame or at least bumper supports of a vehicle, creating a solid mounting point. It's also gonna create other mounting points for your other components, including your tow bar. So your tow bar's gonna attach to the arms and that's gonna be the connection point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, we also have our safety chains and that's going to make sure in case of a disconnect we still have the cables attached to the vehicle. more

Now what this does is allow you to slow and stop in your RV and the brakes will be applied on your towed vehicle. Secondly, it's going to allow your towed vehicle, your RV, when you hit the brakes here, it's gonna operate the brakes on the towed vehicle as well. That is gonna be a safer stop, a more stable stop than having all of this weight just pushing on the back of your RV. more

Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2021 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional braking System on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. There's five main components when flat towing a vehicle and starting on the vehicle side you're gonna have the base plate and that's gonna attach to the frame or the structural support of the vehicle allowing an attachment point not only for our towbar but for all the rest of our components. And that leads us to the towbar which is gonna be the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now also attached to the base plate is gonna be where our safety cables go and that's just gonna make sure in case of a disconnect we're still attached to our RV. We also have our diode wiring which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the towed vehicle, including your running lights, brake lights and turn signals and that way people behind you know what you're doing. You also have your supplemental braking system and that way the vehicle slows and stops when you apply the brakes on the RV. more

Simply put, what a supplemental braking system is gonna do is apply the brakes in your towed vehicle whenever you're flat towing your car down the road, behind your motorhome. And not only is that pretty much required by law in the majority of the states, more importantly it's a huge safety thing. By not having to rely on your motorhome to do all the braking and having some help from the vehicle slowing itself down. That's really gonna go a long way, especially when you're up in the hilly areas of the country. more
